The Northwell Health Walk is your Walk for your community. Which is why it’s so important that when you fundraise, you decide where your funds go.
See below for a full list of the hospitals and programs you can choose to support with the funds you raise. Each one is a proud member of the Northwell Health family, and brings comprehensive care and compassionate staff to our local communities.
Wherever you decide to send your funds, you’ll be joining Northwell Health and thousands of your fellow walkers in our collective commitment to keep our communities healthy.
East End (RGNY, Riverhead)
Peconic Bay Medical Center
Funds raised for the Walk will support two of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s priorities: expanding their Breast Health Program and developing a comprehensive Mother and Baby Unit.
Breast Health Program: Peconic Bay Medical Center wants patients to receive the highest quality care, close to home. Funds raised for the Walk will go toward expanding the Breast Health Program so PBMC can further develop and perform highly specialized breast health services for both women and men with breast cancer, at any stage in their journey. PBMC aims to provide the most advanced breast care in the region, from the latest diagnostic procedures to the most innovative treatment options.
Mother and Baby Unit: Peconic Bay Medical Center is committed to creating one facility where new mothers and their babies can stay together while they each receive the best possible health care. Funds from the Walk will support the expansion of a comprehensive Mother and Baby Unit, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a postnatal care unit, and a state-of-the-art delivery unit–all in one place. Your support will ensure that new moms and babies in eastern Suffolk County can receive the care they need, and the comfort of being close to one another.
Jones Beach (Jones Beach State Park, Field 1, Wantagh)
Cohen Children’s Medical Center
Children’s behavioral and mental wellbeing is a growing health crisis, and was declared a national emergency in 2021. COVID-19 only exacerbated the issue, and magnified the scarcity of mental health support for kids and the glaring lack of research in child psychiatry. Nearly one in five children has an emotional, behavioral or mental disorder and sadly, only 20% of those diagnosed receive care.
Cohen Children’s Medical Center is committed to addressing this crisis head on and creating an entirely new model of behavioral health for children. Funds raised for the Northwell Health Walk will help support the creation of a new physical hub for child and adolescent behavioral health, designed around the needs of kids and teens. Additionally, your funds will help fuel new research and education initiatives that support our most accomplished physicians and researchers who are dedicated to tackling and solving this problem.
Katz Institute for Women’s Health
Mental health support is essential to overall well-being, and a healthy mom means a healthy baby. Your funds will help the Katz Institute provide women with the mental healthcare and resources they need, including programs from pediatric and OB GYN offices to increase depression screenings of postpartum women. Programs will also be made available to educate women in ways to manage common mental health issues, like depression and anxiety. Your funds will also benefit the Innovation Grant Program, which supports projects and innovative research efforts focused on improving women’s health.
Port Jefferson (Mather Hospital, Port Jefferson)
Mather Hospital
Your funds will support Mather Hospital’s ongoing efforts to conquer breast cancer. Mather Hospital’s Fortunato Breast Health Center is a recognized leader in the diagnosis of breast cancer and uses advanced technology to detect cancer in its earliest stages. The Center screens thousands of women every year including underserved women in partnership with the cancer services program of Suffolk County.
Staten Island (Midland Beach, Staten Island)
Staten Island University Hospital
Funds raised will support the creation of the new Florina Cancer Center at Staten Island University Hospital. Every year, approximately 30,000 hematology/oncology patients are diagnosed and treated at SIUH, making the hospital one of the largest cancer programs in New York. With your support, the new Florina Cancer Center will be an all-inclusive facility that brings the best possible treatment to patients right in our neighborhood. The center will also include a dedicated pediatric oncology unit where kids can be treated like kids, while receiving leading-edge cancer care.
Westchester (FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights)
Northern Westchester Hospital
Northern Westchester Hospital is dedicated not only to the health of our community, but the well-being of our healthcare professionals. Your funds allow Northern Westchester Hospital to provide financial assistance to NWH team members and their families in times of personal hardship, acute illness or illness.
