Northwell Health Walk at Jones Beach
When you participate in the Northwell Health Walk at Jones Beach, you help Cohen Children’s Medical Center and the Katz Institute for Women’s Health advance care for children and women in our communities.
Cohen Children’s Medical Center
Children’s behavioral and mental wellbeing is a growing health crisis, and was declared a national emergency in 2021. COVID-19 only exacerbated the issue, magnifying the scarcity of mental health support for kids and the glaring lack of research in child psychiatry. Nearly one in five children has an emotional, behavioral or mental disorder and sadly, only 20% of those diagnosed receive care.
Cohen Children’s Medical Center is committed to addressing this crisis head on and creating an entirely new model of behavioral health care for children. Funds raised for the Northwell Health Walk will help support the creation of a new physical hub for child and adolescent behavioral health, designed around the needs of kids and teens. Additionally, your funds will help fuel new research and education initiatives that support our most accomplished physicians and researchers who are dedicated to tackling and solving this problem.
Katz Institute for Women's Health
Mental health support is essential to overall well-being and a healthy mom means a healthy baby. Your funds will help the Katz Institute provide women with the mental healthcare and resources they need, including programs from pediatric and OB GYN offices to increased depression screenings of postpartum women. Programs will also be made available to educate women in ways to manage common mental health issues, like depression and anxiety. Your funds will also benefit the Innovation Grant Program, which supports projects and innovative research efforts focused on improving women’s health.
Northwell Health Walk at East End
Funds raised for the Walk will support two of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s priorities: expanding the Breast Health Program and developing a comprehensive Mother and Baby Unit.

PBMC aims to provide the most advanced breast care in the region, from the latest diagnostic procedures to the most innovative treatment options.
Mother and Baby Unit
Peconic Bay Medical Center is committed to creating one facility where new mothers and their babies can stay together while they each receive the best possible health care. Funds from the Walk will support the expansion of a comprehensive Mother and Baby Unit, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a postnatal care unit and a state-of-the-art delivery unit - all in one place. Your support will ensure that new moms and babies in Suffolk County can receive the care they need and the comfort of being close to one another.

Funds raised will support the creation of the new Florina Cancer Center at Staten Island University Hospital.Every year, approximately 30,000 hematology/oncology patients are diagnosed and treated at SIUH making the hospital one of the largest cancer programs in New York. With your support, the new Florina Cancer Center will be an all-inclusive facility that brings the best possible treatment to patients right in our neighborhood. The Center will also include a dedicated pediatric oncology unit where kids can be treated like kids, while receiving leading-edge cancer care.
