What is the “Northwell Health Walk: Hometown Edition”?
On May 23rd, instead of walking in groups of hundreds or more, we’ll be walking with our families, close friends and neighbors. Instead of congregating in a few locations, we’ll be taking to the streets in our neighborhoods across New York and beyond – wherever you are. It’s the same healthy activity as always. The same opportunity to support your local health centers. But this time, it’s right in your hometown.
Will there be a physical walk this year?
Due to the local and state public health guidelines, we can’t all gather together and walk at Jones Beach, Staten Island, or Riverhead this year like we usually do. But you can still walk in your hometown to help fund local health centers and provide quality care to those who need it most.
Will anything be happening on Walk Day?
The week leading up to Walk Day, you’ll be able to visit a dedicated event website with inspiring content, activities, and a chance to connect with fellow walkers. Then, on Walk Day, we’ll all join together to watch an inspiring opening ceremony. After that, we encourage you to go out in your community and walk.
Can I start a team with two people?
Yes, virtual walk teams can be any size. Whether it’s just you and a neighbor or you and 100 of your closest friends, we appreciate you stepping up for your community and joining us to support health care for families.
I registered as an individual but would like to form a team. How do I do that?
Easy! Simply log-in to your Participant Dashboard and under “Event Information” on the left hand side of the page you’ll see the option to change your Team Membership. Simply choose to start a team or join one.
When you fundraise for the Northwell Health Walk: Hometown Edition, you decide where your funds go. You can choose from seven hospitals and programs during registration. Each one is a proud part of Northwell Health, and all provide crucial care in communities across New York.
Wherever you decide to send your funds, you’ll be joining Northwell Health and thousands of your fellow walkers in our collective commitment to keep our communities healthy.
